  1. As a kid i use to go up and down river in my canoe, couple of weirs and shallow bits where i had to get out but good fun

Going upstream from the field, shallow bits untill Widford, about a mile and there is a weir there also, then plenty deep enough all the way to Burford, i lived at Widford for 20 years, i know rivers are shallower now but we used to go upstream in a inflatable with a Seagull engine, only problem was weed :)

Use to spend all summer on the river there in my old canvas canoe, 3 things i always remember, one was getting the fishermans flies out the trees and flogging them back to them, two was always having a hand line trailing out the back and the third was spending ages looking at the river bed with an old bucket that my father stuck a glass bottom in :)

    Hi there Kieth ...hoping to come down for Friday evening from Derbyshire , but, and a big but ....my 93 year old dad is very poorly in Derby city Hospital .
    So it all depends on his well being . We may come just for Saturday and Sunday if all goes well Cheers . Last time i was your way was when we stopped at the Bay Tree at Burford for the in laws golden Anniversary .

  18. really , spose theirs not many rivers in the mountains . Mind you bet your glad , he would take a while to dry out if he did.

    He can paddle, it's no so much can't swim as won't. I tossed him in the river on one of those really hot days a couple of weeks back and he made home ok.
