Thanks for the offers of help from the @Robo family, when we came to a dead stop, strategically placed to be visible to everybody..
    .
After several hundred miles, the crank bolt holding the timing wheel and pulley came loose off the crank.

The engine stopped dead because the timing wheel was just lying there, the ECU shut down the engine..

So I undid the three bolts holding in the crank fire system, bolted in a coil and a distributor, moved over the choke heater and coil wiring , set the timing and carried on.
Currently at National Trust Hidcote.. having a cup of coffee.

Oh blimey Mike! I heard a van start up, stop and then a van start up a while later (I was still drifting in and out of dreamland and listening to the rain) .... didn't realise you were doing emergency repairs!
Glad you got to the National Trust place and are in the dry.
I'm slowly packing up in between the heavier rain storms.
It would be so much easier if I could just ride it out, relax in the van for the day, dry everything off in the better weather tomorrow and then go home. Not sure I'd be too popular if I bailed out on my friends wedding though! Hey ho.
Catch up with you at Techenders :)

You should be in the sea swimming Coll ...not looking at snails on the window .

Getting packed up in stages.... and having lunch whilst the latest rain shower does it's thing and then hopefully subsides enough for the canopy to come down (vaguely damp rather than sopping wet , maybe)[IMG]

Many thanks Keith for a truly memorable weekend..
For the welcome in the warm club house bar when it was 13C and drizzling.

For the chance to drive around the Cotswolds through huge puddles, and to get smaller ones inside the awning.

For the chance to break down just outside of the field between rain showers on Saturday..

Back home now, safely no problems.

After a lot of camper van driving this week..

6B2C7CA8-D5E3-48B7-8C3E-25CAAC9DBDC4.jpeg We got back this evening safe and sound, a 370 mile round trip and I never got the tools out once, which gives me confidence for the trip down to Silverstone, for the Classic in a couple of weeks time.

On the M6, the coolest car I’d seen all day, a silver grey 60’s Mustang coupe, came alongside us, and we exchanged grins and thumbs up.

Thanks to everyone who organised the weekend, especially Keith for the field, and everyone we met, it was great spending time with you all.

As someone who likes to extend the weekend as much as possible it’s a shame to hear everyone is already home.
I hope you all had a great time.

    anyone still there???

Thanks Kieth ...great to see you both at the clubhouse ...we all had a great time as usual and good to see everyone .
The Henry Westons vintage again managed to make me walk back to the field at a slight angle .
Once again thanks . Ewan & Caroline .
