I don't think you'd want to use a gas fridge in the tent or in the bus if it's not plugged in properly. Venting problems etc but ok to use a three way on electric only.

  3. Waeco is well worth it though, we had ours on from Saturday through to a Monday and it uses no power at all, scary how long and well it works

  4. yeh they are good great if you use um alot

  5. Fill the whole van with dry ice - it's not that expensive

  6. Waeco's are expensive, but if you're starting from scratch with no provision of a fridge in your van, then it's not that different cost-wise to fitting a gas fridge with an underslung tank for LPG (which is the best way to go with gas fridges because they use a lot more than you would for just cooking). And when running on electric, 3 way fridges use a lot more power.

  7. I bought the Waeco cool box after seeing Ken Regency's. Sits nicely and securely in the walk through between seats. Quiet to leave running all night and maintains a temperature rather than just x degrees below ambient.

I've just bought a 2nd hand mobicool 3 way cool box off ebay, £92. Foolishly I bid on one in droit which as it was ending soonest than the one in Sheffield (where I live) that eventually went for less! I will be picking it up next mon so will let you know what it's like.

I wanted a cool box rather than upright fridge as will be moveable. Also wanted 3 way so gas for festivals :)

I have a Euroengel 12 volt compressor coolbox which can actually make it to -18 C (3* freezer). It uses an average of about 1 amp as a fridge and just over 4 amps actually running.
It would have cost around £350 new. I got mine with a broken switch for £40 at Beaulieu Boat Jumble a few years ago.
It sits between the cooker and the rear facing seat in my Devon. It makes a good seat as it is tough enough to sit on the lid.
