Got a letter today with a special offer to extend my subscription for a year for a special offer of £49.14.

In the new magazine they are offering a new subscription for £39.99!

What sort of offer is that? I really hate being ripped off, but I like the magazine so I guess I will just let it run out and then resubscribe.

Doesn't make you a very loyal customer though

  2. thats bang outta order phone em up and tell em off...might get a freebi ::)

But think about it, with new subscriptions they usually offer a gift. Let it run out and see what they are offering. Stuff all this customer loyalty. Business in business. Or do what I do. Pop to Tesco's and if it looks worth reading buy it. Saved myself a lot this year. Also gives me the choice of camper and bus or Volksworld.

  6. i resubscribe to autosport every year but not directly, i let it lapse then sign up again - i end up getting it cheaper each time + the free gift
    :)

  8. I always let mine lapse then take it ou curdler with a free gift.
It's a bit like existing customers on insurance ew customers are cheaper so I cancel and become a new customer.

Havnt re subscribed to the mag I was gettin a bit fed up with all of the builders vans in it.

  9. Not the worlds greatest offer or incentive to renew a subscription, I inevitably end up buying it when I see it in a shop.

The builders van feature at the moment is interesting as I am pondering one as a day van/mobile office

  10. Thats a great thought, My Mrs used to get me it for Christmas as its the present that keeps giving but this month it sat on the door mat for 2 days before I could be bothered picking it up.... Nice article by Frank though... I must admitt I dont enjoy it as much as I used to as you say its full of posh ex AA vans with no character and adverts....

This year I hopefully getting a 200 powerpack form Halfords to jump start my van thats full of character....that reminds me I need to go and stick some bits back on ;D

  11. Don't get me wrong builders van do have their uses as a daily runaround but I'm getting fed up of the amount yor newer stuff you see at shows and walking away with the honours. Recent one I was at there was only about 4splits mine included the same amount of bays out of about 40 vehicles and the winners was 2 x t4's, a corrodo, a vw golf, a caddy and a beetle.

  12. Yep, they do have there uses as builders vans, I just find them lacking on the character front...If there are any T4 or T5 owners that pass a light Blue Bay with its hazards on please stop and help... :-[

i don't mind the early t4's as they are fitted with a nice diesel engine that isn't over complicated, i think the problem is with them i just never know if they are vw fans or builders driving them so i only wave if they have a chequer flag bonnet or garland.

  14. What if its a camp builder ????

  18. It's a changing scene and the costs of a bay/split/vintage vehicle are prohibitive to many, the [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow] that there is an emergence of tidy builders vans should be embraced as it will be many of those people who will get the bug (no pun intended) and go on to own something a little more akin with our tastes.

I must admit the exteriors of the newer vehicles may look great however still waiting to be blown away with the interior.

i have a vw conversion member on my face book, and they got stroppy when i mentioned the interiors dull and too grey,
he replied it was the carbon fibre look. and that i lived in the eighties.
wot a moron. i live with some one who has texile degree, and has been in fashion design all her life,
and i agree, with most of her colour schemes and like modern designs.
but you can find most people buy a van and go with whats on offer at the time,(usually grey interiors lol)
instead of running with the idea, as most bay owners do till we have made up our minds what the inside look like.

  19. I have a bay and a T5 both full camper conversions , i bought the T5 when my Bay was off road for 6 months, I can honestly say it is totally characterless my wife now uses it for school runs but we have been camping 5 times this summer every time in the Bay, plus Bay is now my daily, I have it properly sorted, rebuilt 2.0 and i love it, I feel special everytime i use it, I like the admiring glances, the conversations it starts, just the way it makes me feel "Its a bay thing " im smitten I sold my old 21 window samba to buy the Bay and a 911 cab and i can honestly say i have had more enjoyment out of the bay!! its perfect blend of retro classic style and useability!
If my bay set on fire i would strip naked to use my clothes to smother the flames !!
the T5 i would get out the marshmellows and claim the insurance, I have a sign company and pick up /drop all types of Vans , The T5 is genuinely the best of the modern bunch, but does it have soul????
I dont think so as for limited budget T25 are a good buy and they are set to go up! i would say there the safest money bet you can get for a couple of grand, but i saw one at vanfest for £18k!!!! ok hes dreaming but a lot of £10k+ T25 so buy a cheap one, do it up and in 2 years i think you would be laughing and they have that 80's mk1 golf scrirocco vibe , Id much rather have a bay! but if my budget is low then a T25
    I just dont get T4's
I would like a 1960 's US Ford Econoline Van but thats another story lol !!!
