  1. zed, can you remind me of the technique for getting the sliding door side track cover back on? Recall you posted it sometime in the past. Last time, I twizzled the thing around like crazy, but seem to rcall you had a better method of getting the tabs and edges over the various other bits.

    Ta.

Front end in first with back raised so top of front catches in the slot and the tab slides under the fitting from behind, then down with the rear. You'll have to try a few times to get it in the right place fore and aft.

  3. This worked for me previously, but I just got new beading strip from Alan Schofield which is much more stretchy, so the strip wouldn't stay in line with the cover. If that's a problem it's a lot easier in the end to take the locking mechanism off and drop the cover down straight.

These things cause me grief. So many times I just want to get the bugger off to remove sliding door - say to fit a seal - what do I find? Some @hailfrank has painted the top half of van going over the plastic strip and cover all in one so removing would ruin the paint. If I saw a shiney bus like this with new paint, I'd walk away no matter how good it looked as it shows the van wasn't prepped before painting. When the rust comes through and it needs painting properly, you have a whole unprepped layer to remove first. This is a short-cut too far...

  5. They are indeed little beggars. I just want to take my slider slide one off to lube the track. As I got really grippy sealing strips, it's going to be a tussle

  6. you shouldn't need to lube the track... it has a roller with a bearing in it... and the block is nylon, which is self lubricating :)

  7. So long ago, I've forgotten whats there. Full of crud, anyway...
