Cab doors stick out a bit when closed

  1. I paid a bloke (who's since done a runner) to buy and fit the best cab door rubbers possible. As far as I'm aware, he bought the rubbers from Status - who only supply the top quality ones. That said, I paid the bloke to buy and fit other top quality parts too, and I know for a fact that he often bought the cheapest inferior parts and pocketed the rest of my cash (my bus's lights for example). I can only assume then, from what most are saying here, that the cab door rubbers I've got fitted now maybe the poor quality ones. But is there anyway of telling for sure, before I spend yet more money? To be honest, the rubbers do 'feel' like good quality ones - they're nice and soft and are of a darkish grey colour (I thought the rubbish ones were of a harder feel and came in black).

Status dont get the best reviews any more. Mine were so-called best quality from Custom & Commercial and the cab doors still havent bedded in.

  3. note for the future. You buy the parts and just pay him for the labour :)

It takes a lot of time and trouble to get all the doors to close properly. And really you have to have a van that's still the right shape. Often replacing panels puts them out of whack making it more difficult.
    My last van:

New old van you could say I got lucky with, but not really, it's the first thing I look at as a great indication of the state of the van. Ask anyone in the second hand car trade - look at the "shuts" as they say. I happily bought it on the strength of the pictures.

I suspect a lot of people just see the dents and scratches, but the reason it looks "right" is because it's actually, overall, straighter than a lot of shiney ones.
