Cab doors stick out a bit when closed

  1. Standing on the side of the road looking at nearside of the bus, they don't fit exactly flush in the bottom right hand corner which, funnily enough, seems to be the thickest part of the new door rubbers. I was told that after a while (3 months or so), the rubbers would bed-in. But they haven't. There's nothing wrong with the door itself - the problem could only possibly be that the door wasn't hung perfectly after the paint job was finished or the rubber's just to thick (which surprises me, considering they were supposed to be top quality rubbers, not the cheap stuff). So, how have others dealt with this problem? I think I've heard that some have shaved down this thickest part of the rubber. How d'you do that without making a mess of the rubber?

  2. same with mine , i chopped the rubber , thou" i do run a "rat" so....still sticks out , without rubber , closes fine , i think i purchased crap seals / fitted em wrong

i replaced my old seals with the £20 ones from heritage and the doors stuck out a mile. now i've fitted vw seals (£120 ) and they fit perfect.

  6. Did you soak your rubbers in warm water then give them a bit of a stretch and working with your hands before fitting???

  8. Our doors don't fit well at all and we get a load of noise through them.

It's poor quality door seals. I bet when you open the door it springs open?? And don't be fooled into thinking it will get better with age and use. They don't. Look for better seals. Custom and Commercial probably do the best.

  10. Our doors click loudly when opened too

  12. Slam them harder?

  14. My door sticks out to the point when we've had Stuart call us in a convoy to say that our door is open... :)

  15. Our side steps are rusted. We need new window seals and new door seals. What is the right order to do them in - buy the seals first? Which - door or window?

Or is it treat the rust then get the seals.

There's very little chance we'll have the money to do it all at the same time...

Personally I'd sort the rust first.

Knowing Arthur his arches aren't going to get to be any better to repair now than they are in a years time. Sort your seals out. just smoother the rusty bits of the step with some waxoyl or thick grease.

  20. Ours stick out a mile too. This has prompted me too look into this and possibly try the better rubbers
