Now there's some stories to tell....

Hurry up and get your van done so we can listen to your drunken tales round a bush fire :)

  3. Thanks I will take some pics. Not sure how you would go about restoring them though?

  4. They were always tight from factory ;)

  5. Our products have been trialled and tested by Companies that we supply, trust and work with, (they have produced show winners too) as well as some products being tried and tested by employee's.

I'd go for grey everytime - the westy has them, spot on although they have not bedded in yet (they've only been on two years; I suspect the door needs adjusting opposed to the door seal). We did fit those horrid black ones to Gusbus' doors the other week, they was absolutely shocking, they would not let the door close, they kept on falling out no matter what. Bought some grey ones, they fit straight away and the doors shut spot on, no messing around! They didn't even need adjusting on the hinges etc.

    Is this helping

  7. I will take your word for that!

  9. You are more than welcome to come try my doors any time you want (if you see me and my prototype at a show), they shut like a dream now but where tight as hell for the first year or so.

We spent a long time reasearching and talking to people who worked on the vans when they were new and this was common place.

  10. The thing is that you are VW Heritage and so people new to classic VWs assume that your stuff will all be fit for purpose. Why sell cheap seals that do not work properly? Set the standard and only sell the good stuff. Some of the other aftermarket stuff is also poor (like the pre-1972 indicator switch that is both expensive and appallingly made) and VWH should not hide behind that fact that it's aftermarket. You should set the quality standard and ensure that your suppliers do the same.

  11. The VW owners manual suggests that a window should be slightly open when shutting the doors from the inside to prevent an air cushion. Certainly, when I slam the door on mine the jealousies flap a bit!

  12. Just like contraception, go for the best rubber you can afford,:thumbsup:

  13. I got some from Gsf, they seem to be ok, they where the grey powdery soft ones, not very dear so if they crumble away its not to much bother to sling some more on

  14. Some people just dont have the money and ask for the cheaper seals, I make sure I make the customer well aware which I would choose and then its up to them, you can only advise.

The cheaper seals do fit and do work just not as well and persoanlly I wouldnt use them.

It's good to offer things to suit everyones budgets.
