All I can say is, I feel your pain. I'm coming to Beaulieu in the Golf tomorrow thanks to a leaky carb filling the engine with petrol. Hope to meet you there, one way or another.
Sorted! Phew! Just in time! Woke up this morning to see that battery charger still said battery wasn't fully charged! Thought I'd got a duff charger. Decided to put battery on anyway. Tried to start, same symptoms. Checked all plugs, all leads, all earths (I thought)... Nothing. Was staring at the firewall with all hope lost of a nice weekend away. And then, I thought, I'm sure that screw is supposed to have an earth on it. I know that, coz I doubled it up when I had to earth my temperature dipstick. Felt around for loose wires. Hey presto! Br0wn earth wire for the relay type thing on the left of the firewall was not screwed on. I, I mean someone....... must have forgotten to put the earth wire back on when I had the firewall off the other day! Silly billy. Anyway, happy now. And in other, positive news, I've had 101 emails from Skytag telling me my battery has been disconnected, battery on tracker going low, etc.
Yeah but as it wasn't sparking, it was probably was flooded, so wouldn't have started any way. So I win
