Inspired by Pmacs saying he soldiers on like a trooper whatever...

Who has (or is going to) sorn this year and what reason?

I'm 50/50 at the moment - tax out 30th nov but i want to use the van over xmas so i'm toying with taxing it again but still storing it at work (big warehouse) and keeping it driveable.

What about you? interested to know why you sorn (if you do) - if you're tax free join in too please.

  2. Mine's safely still not on the road at all, but will be out and about over winter when it's finally done!

  3. Ours went into storage last Wednesday. The main reason being that it is just too flipping cold to drive it anywhere now. There's no heating, and the doors don't fit very well, and there are only so many clothes/duvets you can wear whilst driving! I want our times in Hattie to be fun and enjoyable, not miserable and cold, so she's tucked up safely now till next year. We've also got a nice modern, warm car (it's even got bum-toasters!) so it would just be mad to drive round freezing to death. :shiver: :shiver: :shiver: :shiver: :shiver:

We did this last year as well (our first winter with a van) because we were away, and when we collected her in March, there was trouble starting her (dodgy starter motor, since been replaced) but after that she ran absolutely fine. And she's in indoor storage as the alternative would be to sit on our drive with a cover on, which I understand can damage the paintwork.

 mrs moosey - last year i had no heating either and i drove up to tatton christmas camp in 2 pairs of trousers a long sleeve shirt a hoodie a coat, hat scarf and gloves with boots and 2 pairs of socks, i couldn't move! the worst thing was having to have the window open to stop it steaming the screen up, this year i was determined to not suffer so i added a proplex and fixed the van heating, i didn't need the propex this weekend because i was on hook up, and the vw heating is really hot when it's working correctly, it was lovely to drive this weekend!

We'll be out and about through the winter. I really enjoy driving on crisp winter days - propex blasting. Tends to be a day trip somewhere with a long walk and then a hot soup or hot chocolate in the van while we thaw out.

  7. I will be re wax oiling the underneath again this winter, to help to protect from that nasty salt..
and have a heater fitted that stopped saturday night... not that propex is not a good heater lol. it might be the gas bottle being empty so i will hold my toungue lol.

nice one dave! looks good, i just had hook up for a tenner a night - easy got my money worth

  10. Tenner a night !
I normally have to lie to get those prices with hook up.

  11. I keep mine on the road all year, its not used that much in winter but lives out on the drive and i have never bothered with a cover. Having only been painted 4 years ago it looks quite poor now flat paint and quite a lot of rusty bubbles, though most of them could be down to poor prep and doing a quick job on it.
I had a Propex heater off a friend earlier this year in the hope that it would make winter journeys and camping a bit warmer however after fitting it I cant get it to work

  13. My bus is my daily so I'll be using it everyday through out the winter. Did last year with no heating! I've got some heating now but have repo exchangers so warm rather than hot. Could do with changing the door seals really to stop cold breeze whistling past my ears ;)

Major will remain roadworthy but he'll undergo a minor refurb when time & weather permit!
