Hello everyone. Can anyone tell me where I can get those little white plastic caps which cover the bumper nuts and which DON'T break 3 days after putting them on? The two I bought from VW Heritage last week have cracked already. Not happy! Are there different sizes?
They have them but who's to say they won't break straight away too? I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had the same problem.
I found that in my local nuts and bolts shop they sell them bags of 50 or will do them in ones. Much cheaper than VW suppliers too.
I bought some from GSF and they split within days. I got some from JK and they are still going strong
Silly question, but do you have the correct bolts? they have a round bit below the head to allow the covers to clip in. I only ask as i didn't
I was just thinking TBR same thing. anyway save your pennies and buy the deluxe rubber trim. makes parking a bumping pleasure If you could see me park you'd say it was money well spent and also the reason why I bought an X1/9 with 5 mph impact bumpers.
JK just list universal hexagonal bolts, no special round bits http://www.justkampers.com/vw-t2-ba...-as-a-bumper-bolt-or-for-general-purpose.html
Just googled it and cant find a picture of the OG ones anywhere. From memory they just have the bottom edge (2mm maybe) of the hex bit turned in a lathe to allow the caps to clip on.
Here is the evidence m'lud: All I can imagine is that I didn't rotate the caps properly to line up with the hexagonal of the nut,it stretched and burst. But for this to happen with each one, I dunno...
Thats what mine did, check to see if there is a lip at the back of cap, (or rather the new caps) if there is file it off and stick them on with a little bit of silicone or something like that?
On the center section that goes over the bolt head, is there a thin lip (maybe a bit distorted having been fitted) around the hexagonal shaped edge?
