Brazillian bay bumper fitting

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by carlperkins001, Dec 24, 2013.

  1. So I'm looking at getting some brazillian bay bumpers

I've heard the rear (with brazillian irons) fits easy, maybe some modification the the locations of mounting holes on the irons.

But what about the front? the mounting holes are completely different, plus the brazillian bumper had a curved profile instead of flat. Anyone ever fitted a brazillian front to their bay?

    If so.. How.

P.s. Let the South American lady garden jokes commence..

I can get some pictures of the brackets in the new year if that's any good.

  8. That your bay in the pic above bay searcher? Yeah pics of the brackets would be awesome.

Also.. What wheels are they? Standards with Beaty rings?

Yep that's my bus. (Minus the bra now though, I sold that to @Austin)
I'll get you some pictures no probs.
Wheels are Porsche 356 steelies; the best aftermarket wheel available!

  10. Ah I see, we're they more expensive than the vw heritage ones? Also what happens with the number plate/ lack of, you ever get pulled over?

I don't even know where they came from, they're fibre-glass! I'll have a think, see if I can remember the company name.
I only drove round like that for a short while, completely forgot I had no front plate. No problem though. The plate is behind the bra at the bottom of the front panel.

  12. Ahh ok, that's ok I guess I'll go for the heritage ones and then modify them to fit somehow.
    Cheers man,

  14. I would appreciate some pics as well

  15. You have two options, the easiest is get someone to fit rivnuts in your deformastion panel in the new hole location, the harder way is to get the holes welded on the bumper and re drilled in stock location, Have heard of both being done its all down to personal preference (and NO I am not talking about lady gardens).

  16. ahh, well i've got a riv nut setter, but dont know if it can handle rivnutting the thickness of the deformation panel.
easiest option for me is probably option 2. I'll decide when i get the bumpers.

    cheers

  17. So are the JK / VWH ones steel?

  18. Where was this pic taken Doug? it looks like the pitches where they used to hold Oktoberfest.
