Some of you that have the the South-American round bumpers on your late bay (dog's & dub's?) how did you go about fitting it, since the mounting holes are different? I am in two minds whether to fill the existing holes, and drill new ones in the latebay place, or weld some nuts on the bumper bar, or make an adapter plate? Thanks.
nut-sert don't you need some special tool to put those in? I'll have to find out what we call those here. tnx.
Sven, yes you do need a special tool but not that expensive. Also if you use this method make sure you grease the securing bolts, as if they corrode even a little and you need to remove the bumper some time, the "rivnut" has a habit of spinning in the hole, and it is therefore very difficult to remove your bumper even by drilling out the bolt .
I don't think you can fit one as simply as using nutserts, the brazil deformation is curved to accommodate it, will probably be a better solution to just buy a brazil deformation and fit it
Ive got a fibreglass replica on mine that I bought with standard (horizontal) holes however when I had a new defomation panel fitted I had a Brazilian one fitted so I could get a steel bumper later and had nuts welded in for my existing one which is the same as a normal late bay fixing.
Fitting a brazil deformation panel seems a bit over the top, I wasn't going to go as far as cutting and welding perfectly good metal on the bus just to fit a bumper.
