Hi. My indicators started flashing very fast sometimes and normal speed other times, about a week ago. Having looked at forums I first switched on hazard flashers, finding that passenger side rear wasn't flashing so cleaned up bulb and holder and all four hazards flashed correctly. Checked indicators and both sides working at normal speed, however when I indicate right and press brake pedal the indicator lights go out and both brake lights flash at high speed. I've removed all bulbs, cleaned up bulbs and holders and also cleaned up earth connections at back in engine bay. I'm assuming that because the hazard flashers work then the relay is okay?... so does anyone have any ideas about what it might be or any other checks I could carry out please? (late 1972 1700 Bay) Cheers Dobber
Clean them up again, incl where the rear clusters are earthed to the van body. Classic sign of poor earthing.
It'll be earth related on the back lights dude... get someone to help you, and wiggle the earths while they press on the brake pedal!! could even be the spade connectors are a bit old/weak
Cheers Snotty & Paul All appears sorted now... had a wiggle, checked connections and ended up replacing the front indicator bulbs which both blew during the process!! Cheers Dobber
