To those smarter than me, which numbers minion, reccos for a half decent speaker, playing from phone at home, not for the van please. There's an old memory of a system that could bang out some bass but your neighbours didn't get their ornaments flying off the mantelpiece, or is it one of numerous daily delusions? Thanks to TLBorg.
I got two, one is a Bose that looks like an old tranny radio, and as you’d expect, the sound quality is fab and the battery is good for two to seven hours depending on volume, but the volume is fine for in the house or just about enough in the van. The other is a Block Rocker Sport, which is ninety five percent as good as the other one sound quality wise and the battery is good for fifty to seventy hours and the volume is enough to drown all conversions in the van at a hal to three quarters volume. This is much larger than the Bose and has two wheels and a suitcase type handle fitted, and a radio, and a Mike, plus you can charge other devices like your phone or iPod etc. Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, second hand only now I think
Sonos Move - it's brilliant. Advantages are; It is Sonos so will work on your Wi-fi and is a clever bit of kit (with their app too) Also bluetooth for when no wi-fi Built in battery for roaming - I had it in the garden with me the other night when I 'camped' Built in Amazon Alexa (although i rarely use that part) Sounds good loud or low (see garden comment) Disadvantages Nope - you've got me there
Bose Revolve. Typical Bose sound quality but the shape of it really fills a space. Battery good for a couple of days pretty much non-stop use. Can’t fault it.
Hmm, does it give a Sonos system a backdoor to Bluetooth or can you only use Bluetooth to that speaker? It's the one thing that Sonos is missing.
We have a Marshall Acton at home. It's mains only but the sound quality is superb even at high volume and boy does it go LOUD! Never managed to turn it up to 11 though. Its a properly hefty bit of kit( nothing plastic and nice brass control knobs just like a Marshall guitar amp) and works via Bluetooth and Aux inputs. Sent from my MAR-LX1A using Tapatalk
If you’re looking for bang for buck then check out the Wonderboom by Ultimate Ears. Just under £50 and they pack a punch. I have one and run it in the van for a while it was that good... even has a bit of bass kick to it. good at campsites and sometime I even prop up the iPad with it and have some decent sounds! you can also pair them in stereo if you want. Not as clever as Sonos or Bose but not as expensive either
Only to that speaker. It was never designed as a Bluetooth speaker and I never saw a problem with it not being. It has evolved so much I cannot fathom a reason you would need it? Please explain the issue and I will try to answer.
Yeah, that wasn't an issue for me as 95% of the time I only use it in the house. If I take it outside we have a mains socket by the patio anyway
I drive a lot, or I did, nay be I will again who knows? Anyway I have podcasts on my phone and i would like to play them at home, through my house wide sonos system and Bluetooth would be the easiest way, tis all.
I would have recommended one of these JCB Speakers, but it lloks like youcan't buy one anywhere - it's been great, especially for the how much it cost (under £25)
Sorry to hijack the thread but it’s got me thinking. I think I’m going to go down this route coz my current speakers in my bus are in the doors (I know, I know!) and you just can’t hear anything when your travelling along. So what I want ideally is an oblong shaped Bluetooth speaker on the dash but a head unit with Bluetooth OUT. Or at least an aux out that could plug straight into the said speaker on the dash. That way I could listen to stuff coming from the head unit OR stuff streaming to the speaker via the usual iPad/ phone route. Is there such a set up? I am shocked at the price of the Bose speakers, although it does look like great kit, might go for something cheaper if poss.
If you’ve got a John Lewis nearby, ask them if they’ve got any damaged stock. They sell off stuff with damaged packaging silly cheap. I went in to buy the Bose Soundlink but ended up buying the Bose Revolve + for half retail, and still with the extended warranty JL give on everything.
My favourite bit of technology when coupled to my iTunes. Bose waterproof Bluetooth speaker. I love this bit of kit and it comes everywhere with me. About £75 on Amazon. Full volume is too much
3 Pringle lids, a Bisto Gravy container and some go fast’ sticky back plastic, and you can have one like mine!
