Apply for the certificate, in the notes box at the bottom of the form state you only require a letter of proof and they initially charge you for the certificate and when it's processed they refund you about half and send the letter. I read that on here ages ago and have posted it a few times, it works for me, iv had no bother.
Well its finally arrived, it was coming up to 6 months and emailed, didn't get anything so rang in the end just to enquire, the lady had had my details and said it will be with you next week, which it was, so it may be worth giving them a ring if you have been waiting ages, but like somebody else said I think its 1 person sorting them, works out, our Bus is March 74, not the August I was led to believe, also left as L345 Light Grey, but is now Orange, inside and out, She has Vw Campmobile Decal on the tailgate, which I believe were converted by E.Sopru and Co the Vw Official conversions in Australia, so I think they may have left grey and painted over there, but somebody may be able to tell me. So that's one bit done, just got tackle the Dvla next year for Tax Exemption.
Doesn't the tax exemption become valid on the first of April in the year following your vehicles 40th birthday. So March or August 74 means the same. Tax exempt from April 2015. At least that's how I interprated it. But I could be wrong. It has been known, according to Mrs M.
That's how I read the rules, comes in with the budget and new tax year, I had an email by them to say that it was indeed one person who's has been on holiday for the last month and production will resume shortly
It has been April for '72 and '73 vehicles - however I read it that '74 vehicles become historic/tax free on January 1st 2015
