Beware the Courier insurance scam - Parcels2go.com

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by DUBious, Jun 13, 2012.

  1. Had my new roof box delivered today, I used parcels2go.com - initial collection failed on 3 occasions, they then gave me a freebie with TNT, it was collected yesterday and arrived today, piece cracked / broken off, corner smashed and whilst it can be repaired it's a fibregalss job and a bit of labour...........but, light at the end of the tunnel, or so I thought. I took out the insurance :)

Alas not, they reviewed my claim and stated "the packaging was not good enough" you should have sent it in a wooden box...............WTF are these people smoking, the box would have weighed more than the roof box, so basically, this is their "get out clause" regardless of what happen their position is "packaging was insufficinet" and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it other than take them to court which I intend to do.

Grrrrrr damn scammers the lot of them and clearly there is zero point in taking the insurance out as its about as much use as a chocolate fireguard

  2. a wooden box ...... blimey thats mad ...

i am sure bay birmingham said that they were on watchdog a while back ....

  3. Go on DUBious, you 'av 'em son. Problem is there's too many folk who let companies like this get away with it.

  4. What a nightmare, i was told when i wanted a large fibreglass item delivered they wouldnt deliver unless i paid for a crate, it cost me £75 but was still cheaper than picking it up with the bus :(. Postal /courier services are a law unto themselves these days, hope you get some satisfaction from them darren.

  5. I'll take them to court, I do not back down in situations like this, they screwed the wrong bloke this time. If I had not paid for the insurance then fair enough, but I did, now they refuse to pay using some BS generic statement that I bet they use with everyone, I mean, who's to say what's sufficient packaging and what's not ? it;s just a standard get out clause, but with all their bad press, I have a good chance of winning.

  6. Good on ya Darren. They will loose im sure ;)

I had this with parcel2go too

  8. i was walking home on Saturday lunch time and a delivery truck was stopped at the end of our road, the bloke was routing around in the back of the van, it looked like it had been through a washing machine with parcels jumbled up all over the place. 2 minutes later he's standing at our door with a mashed up parcel. "F off i'm not signing for that" was my response. He thought about a retort but decided against it when he saw I was in the mood to tear him a new arse hole!

Trick is not to sign for stuff or open it in their presence.
    :)

  9. My wife signed as I was on my all in one baby grow at the time ! But your spot on

  10. get rid of the wife then. Daft cow

Another thing I've been told to do by a lawyer is always write item/s not checked on the delivery sheet but with the handheld units they all use now its hard enough trying to write your name readable.

  12. ^ I noticed on the last handheld one I used it actually said something along the lines of "checked on delivery" or "in good condition" in a box above the signature spot but there was nowhere for me to state otherwise.

Its a catch 22 really the driver wont wait once you've sign to check it and wont let you open package til you've signed

  14. In future if you have to sign on a PDA, always tell the driver you want to put a clause in for damaged packaging or whatever. There is always an option to do this. To go through the whole process on a pda of saying youve arrived at a drop, then customer checked, then signed, etc takes ages, so drivers always just go right through the process beforehand so that they are ready to just get a signature and go, in order that they save time and can get to the next drop. If they wont let you do this, refuse to sign. If you just sign something as unchecked, then most times this will not cover you and in some small printt somewhere it will say this. You must always do a proper claused signature if youre in doubt. Or dont sign!

When I was drugs delivering the firm rolled out pda's but as they were crap we had the paper work as well and the customer had to sign both which took ages so I'd just let them sign the paper work and I'd do the pda in the van as it was not just a quick here sign this as well.

Surely they'll just say TNT damaged it?

  18. Update : I rubbished them in facebook, both on my page, my kids pages and their own page, and with messages....just to let them know what they were in for from me.

I then got a PM and email from their site asking for more detail so they can hopefully resolve my issues...........here is what I wrote them back :

Here is the second number P2G9141328, the first one where you failed to collect on 3 occasions forcing me to move the parcel from one friend to another was P2G9011743 - On both occasions I took out the insurance. The item in question is a roof box for a motorhome and as I am sure you can imagine it is large, these items are not packaged when purchased new, so other than putting a label on ,there is little that can be done to package them, other than a crate which would ot make shipping feasible, if the courier was unhappy with the packing, they should have refused collection and given a refund. if I had not taken insurance out, I would agree I took the risk, but after previous occasions where items have arrived damaged I knew better so took the insurance out. Just telling me the case was reviewed and they found my claim to be flawed based on insufficient packaging is not acceptable, and I promise you this now, I will both take this to court and make it a vendetta to cost parcel2go far more than the £80 I am out of pocket. Facebook is the tip of the media Marmite storm I will start. I am an active member of many forums and also an active member of the camping and caravanning club of GB, I will spread the word about the fraudulent service and lack of customer care parcel2go delivers and trust me, MUD sticks and you will wish you had paid me my insurance claim. Hope you can help sort it for the sake of your profits.

Oh what fun I am going to have with them
