  1. Jungle formula. Use it for work, fishing and camping. Tried loads, this works. Also lavender oil on any bites.

  2. Thanks buster, jungle formula looks like the one then!

  3. We had absolutely no midges.
Whether it was down to the device or there just weren't any midges, I don't know.
In subsequent trials, we've seen no flies.
But wasps seem completely undeterred by it.

When asked about it I say, 'bugger me, my goldfish has escaped'

i find if you smear the van next to yours in dog excrement this keeps the flies away.
    you're welcome.

  5. Also Google 'the executioner' it's a quality fly killer. It more fun and will entertain everyone after a few beers.

Sounds like you learnt this the hard way.

(if you insist on under arm bowling them to us buddy....)

  8. Avoid Scotland - midgies are silent. At least with mossies you can hear them and de-mossie the bus before you go to sleep

  9. Well that explains the brown van! :)

  10. Not in Dent! As anyone who was at the Dent Beer and Music festival will tell you. They breed those blighters with hob nail boots and fangs up there

  11. lol, Julie looked liked she had bathed in jungle formula

  12. i would love to find something that keeps the mozzies away, i always get attacked.
i've tried eating/drinking certain foods and nothing has worked. while in cuba i did the 'smoking and rum trial' daily but to no avail. i was, however, told that your own pee relieves the bites. i did try this as i had 30+ on one leg after a cuban mozzy got trapped in my bedding  but can't say i noticed much relief.

i burn citronella at home and still get bitten. i've tried nearly everything but the b6 thing is interesting. as a veggie i tend to be low on this.

  13. trapping cubans in your bed sheets is a dangerous game to play so ive heard

  15. Apparently at Dent they had brought in one of those midgeater gizmos at great expense promising a midge free/reduced experience. To add to her defence Julie used jungle formula and Avon sss, still got bitten to buggery as did everyone else.

It was a midge Somme; we're all going back next year :D

    We're Northern
