I can see what you all did there, you waited for me to go last So TLB favourite album is… drum roll FOR YOUR PLEASURE ROXY MUSIC The End Close thread
Also on that first clash album is ‘ garage land’ it was ‘allegedly’ a response to a journalist from NME who wrote they should go back in the garage all night and preferably leave an engine running. They were a garage band in the truest sense then!
I have to say if double albums count, then it has to be Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds. DA DAN DAAAHHHHHH…
I must have lived a very secluded life. I’ve never heard of most of the albums listed here, or many of the artists . I don’t really have a favourite/best ever. I have a few that I listen to more often than others. War of the worlds is one. Hopes and Fears from Keane. Jeff Lynne’s Long Wave. Dire Straits Brothers in Arms. Windsong from John Denver. There’s loads really.
Surprised nobody's mentioned Stan Clagthorpe and the Barnsley Rascals. Their first album "By 'Eck, Missus" was a classic
Deffo. Antmusic wasn’t really as punk. It was going a bit ‘glamorous’. Although, it was before the expensive videos started to be made, and churned out by various artists. Ant music was for Sexpeople…
My favourite time as a kid was the excitement of a new album and playing it all the way through enjoying the songs I already knew (main reason I bought the album ) immediately enjoying some new ones and being unsure about others that sometimes were maybe bit experimental or just album fillers . To name a few in no particular order Parallel Lines by Blondie , Appetite for Destruction -GNR , Levelling the Land -The Levellers, Elastica-Elastica ,Sleeper-The It girl , [Spunge]- The Story so Far and a mixture of Rod Stewart, John Denver and The Dubliners which my Mum would have playing during s lunchtimes . I will say i have not had that excitement of a new album for some time but that's another thread to start maybe .
Not favourite, but up there. FGTH - welcome to the pleasuredome need to get that on vinyl. going to turn it on Spotify now to drift away to sleep.
