  1. Hi all,
HELP = my engine went in today but we discovered that there is a 1600 bell housing on my 2ltr gearbox  ...dont know why they did it= ( previous owners etc ).....................so we now need to find a bell housing from a 2ltr gearbox with either a CP or CT code.
any help or lines of enquiry greatfully received.

  2. I have a large bell housing can't remember if I pulled it off a T25 or a bay box but I think they are the same.

£50 in bristol I can post (no it's not £50 posted)

  3. wouldn`t mind your old 1600 belhousing

  4. thanks kank,
but i need to know it's the right one, i must admit its all new to me, after a little detection work the problem was found to be the offending 1600 bell housing mated on the 2ltr gearbox.....it just seems to be one thing after another at the moment, if it's not the van it's the wifes car...or the washing machine........as i found out when i got home....greatttt :(
any way you can find out? send pics etc.
    cheers again.
sorry ..that was supposed to read..do you think there is any way you can find out what its out of. cheers

  5. I'd say they are the same the T25 use a type 4 engine I've only owned aircooled or diesels (diesels have a starter on the top).

I can get a photo no problem

  8. Cheers Kank,
i can show the pic to my vw man and then he can advise me what to ask next, the problem we had was the depth in the bell housing was not deep enough for the clutch ...my lim ited knowledge showing now...think we had 40mm when on the 2ltr bellhousing it was 55mm ish.....like i said my limited knowledge ???

  9. crikey kank ...that was quick :)

  10. That bell housing will take a 228mm flywheel and clutch the biggest Vw fitted. :D

  11.
  12. According to Paul weeding or wedding. If its a pre 1976 bell housing then it won't fit. I can vouch for that as I had to get a 200mm clutch and flywheel as the 228mm wouldn't fit. Post '76 should be fine though

yes it was a 1600 that was inthere when we got it but with a 6 rib box, we managed to get a 2ltr engine but did not think that the bell housing would have been changed so did not check it until the present problem...arghhhhhhhh...so close
