last year we had bees in our wall .....I waited until late in the year after they left and filled the hole ....this year I can lie in bed and hear them buzzing in the loft .....now I don't want to kill them but other than call someone out is there anything I can do to put them off my house ?
We had wasps in our cavity last year. I bought a bee keeper suit and have got to go up and remove the tiles so as to extricate the nest in the hope they won't return this year. Must have sprayed some 4 tubs of that powder in the area in the hope of eradicating them
maybe get a bee keeper ,he will put a new home close by and attracts the bees ,that's what we do here....
If you can get the queen and move her to another box / hive nearby all the bees will follow her and then you can move all of them together, find a local beekeeper they will normally be very grateful for a new swarm of bees and come and get them for you.
Try these @lhu1281 they may send some one out. Any way to save them and also get them out your property is a good result http://sdbka.co.uk/#&panel1-2
You need to identify them first if they went away over winter then they are not honey bees. Another way to identify if they are honey bees is by there numbers a full colony will have around 50,000 bees so you should see a lot of traffic going in and out. If they are bumble bees you are best waiting until the winter and seal up the holes as its only the queen that lives through the winter and that is generally elsewhere. A bee keeper will not be interested if they are not honey bees and most pest controllers will not kill bumble bees. your probably to far away for me to come and have a look so thers Some info and how to get hold of your local bee keeper https://www.bbka.org.uk/help/do_you_have_a_swarm.php At the end of the day that are doing no harm so why not leave them. .
Borrow a Bee Keeping suit, hat and a swarm basket. Tuck suit into your socks - bees only crawl upwards. Nip into loft, don't use a smoker, bees don't like smoke & go barmy trying to avoid it. Cover the nest using a towel soaked in benzedrine to calm everyone down and then lift the nest into swarm basket. Take swarm basket to local keeper. Job done.
please dont the idea with the smoke is with a little bit they think there is a fire so they rush to fill there tanks up with honey in case they have to move this also helps as when full of honey they cant bend there abdomen and use their sting. A sting on the ankle is one of the most painful so not a good idea to tuck your socks in If its honey bees there is no nest like a wasp just combs so you have to shake the bees into something making sure you get the Queen then the others will follow. Even with a expensive bee suit honey bees and wasps can still sting through the suit, the sting also puts out a signal to the other bees to sing you so you really need to know what you are doing and have a escape route
Had bumble bees under my bath a couple of years ago. Its a tin bath and the whole thing was buzzing. got a pest control company in to evict them but it all got a bit lary and they got the bad news im afraid!
On topic but not especially helpful to the OP - B&Q have stopped selling plants using banned pesticides to help our bees, this is to ask other retailers, including Homebase, to follow suit. If you don't want to be notified about other petitions, use a temporary email or fake one. Petition can be found here - https://home.38degrees.org.uk/?s=bees.
Just bee firm with them and tell them to leave, don't use a waspish tone of voice as they don't like that.
