If the shower block does not have:
    • A smell of bleach blocks/wee
    • Questionably wet floor, always - origin of water unknown, but strongly suspected
    • At least some dodgy wiring, usually in the area of the shower
    • Painted black inside
    • A light so dim it would be of no use down a coal mine
    • If it does have a cubicle door - there is no lock, but it does jamb and usually there is no handle to pull it
    • If there is a changing area, there is no where to put your clothes except maybe on the sinks which are soaking, or the window ledge, which is usually a few feet up and covered in dust
    • You can't exit knowing your feet are clean, just wet, see bullet point 2.
Toilet block, see all of the above, plus:

    • If there is bog roll, its usually been dropped on the floor and has siphoned water up, but only half its width, leaving you with a tantalizing Kryption factor like challenge, or a duck waddle back to the fan to fetch your own roll.
    • Some people have the aim of William Tell were William Tell blind and prone to fits where he loses all use of his limbs whilst being thrown from a moving car.
    • Apparently there is a T-Rex onside and the fossilised evidence is still in situ the 4 days later - at best leaving you wondering how a human being was able to pass something like that.
    • Some people are literally like bovine animals when it comes to personal hygiene and the use of publicly shared toilets - if you are lucky, the Bobby Sands look is only around the toilet itself, but sometimes they have felt compelled to apparently write on the back of the cubicle door, which you get to stare at whilst propping it shut with your foot.

Camping eh - I loves it.

Mr Para and I had similar shennanigans on a site once that was as rough as a badgers behind, they even fussed about the direction we drove onto the pitch having worked out that front wheel drive vehicles made less mess of the pitch if they reversed in (or something like that) wanted us also to reverse in so 2 x LHD + RWD really confused him I think. I think in the end we more or less said "mate we are not going to wheel spin onto the pitch, we don't have awnings, have a little faith" and got on with it. That was not C&CC. I like C&CC sites, never had any bother.

This is where we let ourselves down.
If its too expensive, dont use it then they will have to either reduce the price or go bust. Its their choice .

How can a night in a empty field become as costly in a hotel with breakfast included. ?
Answer- because people will pay it .

  5. Still plenty cheaper than a hotel or b & b.

Just much more expensive than a few years ago.

Amazing location is main reason for using it

  13. Hello everyone,

I used to have a small tent and an old sleeping bag - that was basic camping for me decades ago at travels and car meetings before the bay window - today I'm too old for that - e.g. waking up in the front yard of the Malmö Police Department because the lawnmower is circling around the tent ;)

Standing in the open with the bay window is also possible, but only from time to time - or a trip for a weekend or max a week. Nice to have this opportunity - and I use it. I always have a folding spade with me o_O

But my wife especially likes clean toilets, fresh bread rolls or croisants in the morning, electric heating and a little more security all around. And I find it less stressful that way. So we like to use small camping places - but without a fairground - and preferably open and without hedges and walls so open for contacts to other travelers sharing tips and travel stories... met a lot of nice people with interesting stories.

    Have good trips,
    regards,
