I've seen a few Bays with the Silver Chrome Volkswagen Badge on the back door. Looks great. Were they fitted to vans of a certain age or is this an after market thing and another few holes drilled for good looks?
Cheers! Only want one if it goes with the year of my van. Ours is a 75. Not drilling any more holes that I don't need to.
Lates do look a bit odd without a rear badge, but the early badges don't suit them IMHO. I got a vinyl sticker for my tailgate from a fellow on eBay, and it looks just right, I think...
Mine ('73) doesn't have it and apparently didn't have it new. Not sure what the date range is though.
Mine has one of these on the tailgate: (was already on the van when I bought it) It's on the left of the tailgate:
Mine has it. I agree with others, that it looks better with a badge there. Didn't drill any holes though, just cut of the mounting lugs and stuck it on using thin strips of no nails tape. So far it's lasted 4 years
I've gone for the style of the time with a vinyl Devon Moonraker decal. I do love the script badges, but they were for earlier vans...
How it can suit an early and not a late I don't know. There's very little difference to the arse ends of them.... Completely personal choice imho.
My old van had a script badge, that was a 1978. Presumably a previous owner had either put the badge or the tailgate from an earlier van on it, it was a bit of a miss mash van tbh. The thing that bugged me the most was catching a sponge on it whilst washing the thing...
mine had a 'shadow' of a missing italic script badge ...a bit like @baybirmingham pics but without the line under it Never seen one in pics or in real life like it
