are you taking your van away this summer

The big one (Pyla) is south west of Bordeaux - Arcachon. 10 years since ive been there - unhappy memories for me!

I am now! Not camping there, but will take the van for a trip out.

 

Going to kent in a week or so for a weekend. Then in June and Sept will either go New Forest, Somerset or Forest of Dean not quite decided on which one when yet.

 

Gonna have a week away not sure south or North yet

 

Reading this thread it seems people on he go to that European mainland more than I remember the JK forum peeps did.

I thought I was the only one scared to go too far, were only just considering a trip to the east coast, Devon & Cornwall seem another country away yet alone actually going to another country!

 

dont feel you have to! A few longer trips away with all the bugs ironed out and youll feel more confident. Our buses once fettled and driven reasonably cautiously dont break down that often. Despite having stuff that was going wrong and fixing it I havent actually broken down at the isde of the road with something that was significant in the 20 odd years ive run one! The only breakdowns that ive been relayed for were a set of busted points and a fuel pump coming loose! At least thats all I can recall. Both I should have been able to fix myself but didnt have the tools or bits with me.

 

We're starting to get there, every time we go for a drive I relax that little bit more the no worries attitude is growing inside

 

Way to go! If you are familiar with your bus - how it runs, how it looks you kind of know when its not quite right.

Square and Compass is a fab pub do a nice line in pasties ( choice of two !) and the Scott Arms is also fab with great views of Corfe Castle.
