Just saying what I think...with some self moderation. You don’t normally have an issue with that! Plus I’m playing quite nicely and not saying what I actually think about sad mother’s that partake in or support bloodsports and that if you live by the sword.... likely I shall be beaten to death with a limp stick of celery in that case!
I'm not a Buddhist, but I decided fish were sentient beings many years ago. Millions of people torture them for entertainment though. What can you do when so heavily outnumbered? The same people take exception to other blood sports for example, it's not a winnable arguement so I don't bother.
Btw I believe there are some ongoing issues with human proximity to caged animals reared for human consumption which may prove to be our undoing. But that’s only foreigners causing that. If humans were a bit more circumspect in respect of how they treat animals then we wouldn’t have COVID at all... or so I believe. Shame it doesn’t just affect those who brought it about on the first place. As for sports fishing well that’s man against beast isn’t it. Primeval instinct and all that.... must be an incredible feeling to know you’ve outwitted a fish by offering it food and then sticking a bloody great hook into it..
1 billion animals are killed in slaughter houses each year in this country ... personally I go sea fishing but never been or would go on a shoot ... part of me thinks I’d rather eat something that has had a decent life rather than one of the 980million broiler chicken that has not .. I also have two cats
I try to remember my Grandfather, his brothers and his his father did their level best to rid our coast of Herring. They even won a Trophy for the biggest one day haul of the year. I believe after the war a great deal of the fish was used as fertiliser. The boats were cool though - this was their's until the navy sank it mine sweeping. The"Boy Andrew", a steam powered jobby.
My little bit of input, I live on the very edge of the Chevening estate within an AONB which is the home secretary’s grace and favour home, each year they breed thousands of pheasants etc which are released to be shot by the priveledged few, some of the birds are harvested by the locals for food but very few During the shoot all we hear all day is the sound of shotguns going off followed by guffawing red nosed pseudo country folk clad in tweed being transported on public roads in trailers towed by tractors, highly dangerous!!! Great sport breed something then kill it, the sooner the law changes the better
Ok Dicky, I have been to the remembrance parade, walked my dog, tended to my free range chickens and tidied the garden, see, not deranged or narcissistic, now I will reply. Preconceptions are not a good thing, all guilty of it mind. I'm guessing because I like punk rock I should now be a "right on" bloke, not very well put but you may get the gist. Lets say for example, that we had met at a show some time ago, we got on famously with our love of music etc and remained friends since then , would you be quite as abrasive as you are now if you found out later that we did not see eye to eye on certain subjects. I dont judge anyone on here because I dont know them, the few I have met have been swell. I respect all opinions but man you have to say it like you mean it next time. This was the first time I have been on a beat, I will go again. The welfare of the birds I have mentioned before.I dont feel I have to "fit in". What is it with the "gentrify" crap, we are all working class blokes , gamekeeper, shepherd, farmer, shop worker, that dont wish to be above our station, all happy as we are. My opinion . Is it ok for you to drive around in an oil dripping, gas guzzling, co2 emitting old planet ruining van? Stay safe and I wish I was a little more clever at expressing myself.
