I do enjoy going on a peasant shoot.
    It's what they're bred for, isn't it?

People have a right to their opinion,, What I would say is if you are a cat owner and think its cruel can always be hit with the hypocrisy stick as cats do far more killing and damage,,,,,,,,, and its not nature before you say it is!!!!

  5. As an old hunt sab I just can't understand killing for fun. You can tell a lot about a person by their attitude to animal cruelty.

It is in a cat's nature to hunt, but for a human to go around with a gun isn't especially when it's not for food gathering.

Pheasant shooting in itself is a funny one.
I find it difficult to oppose on any humane basis as we breed chickens in pretty grim conditions just to kill and eat them.
Pheasants are farmed in quite reasonable pens from what I see of them (they’re large chicken-wired enclosed parcels of land where they can roam freely) and killed by shotgun when they are killed during shoots. I have no idea of any other use the rest get put to.

I just have an issue where hunting causes unnecessary‘persecution’ and suffering and inhumane killing as opposed to a quick painless death.

It's the same thing! Ever since man learnt to stand on two feet, he has had a need to feed himself. Hunting prey was a very strong instinct (like a cat's nature) and was vital to his survival. Cats and humans no longer need to hunt prey for their survival but they both still have it in their nature. Nowadays, most people express that nature as a ruthless hunt for money and wealth but some more down to earth folks like huntin' shootin' 'n fishin'.

I take it you are a cat owner, they dont belong here and torture and destroy all the native small mammals, birds and amphibians, you cant pick or choose your cruelty.
I go shooting and we eat pheasant partridge ducks and rabbit through most of the season. I choose not to get my intensivly farmed meat from the supermarket.

We are having partridge in a cream and mustard sauce with wild rice, will have to go to the bun fight of the supermarket next week as due to the lockdown daspite the fact I know nobody who has had the virus or anybody who knows anybody who has had it they have collapsed our rural community the only pub for miles has been shut probably not to open again, but I suppose we are all in it together.

    I’ll throw this in....
Vietnam breed dogs to eat, we have them as pets.
We breed cows to eat, in India, they are sacred.
Apparently, there is no right and wrong, when you dig deep.
Even some of the guns that I used to pheasant beat for, were vegetarian, but liked shooting.
    And the kicker?
Even some plants, Venus fly trap, funnel plants, eat meat.....

  12. It seems you can justify anything in this life by comparing it with something that actually bears no comparison. Breeding animals, usually without compassion in unnatural and inhumane conditions specifically to kill them for sport? Why is it that anyone gains pleasure from killing an animal anyway surely that’s a sick mind at work it’s bad enough when it’s the privileged but when it’s normal folk attempting to gentrify themselves then again that’s abnormal behaviour.
So no... it’s not normal to have a day out killing things and if you think it is then frankly your deranged or a narcissist!

  16. I think what you did is wrong. I think the so called sport is wrong. Did you gain much pleasure from assisting this barbarity or was it just from “fitting in”?

    Likewise I'm sure. :hattip:

I've met beatnick but I didn't atempt to second guess his view on blood sports...or anything else for that matter. However, how boring the world would be (you can trust me on this) if everyone was like me.
