Obviously my bay is lhd so i know the little niggles but for a daily will i get fed up with it and do you have any insurance issues - i'm guessing a T4 won't go on classic insurance but i've found one i really like with potential to convert to a nice camper but it's a "wrongun".... I've been in discussion with the owner who's imported and registered it from Denmark, it's cheap for what it is as it's a lefty but he'll take my Golf in p/x so i'm tempted.... i've never changed gear with the wrong hand as mines an auto as you know....
I have LHD bug and bus, no problems. You can only hit the left door card so many times before it sinks in.
i know that but for daily use? as i say my camper's a lefty it's more the commute/gear chnge thing and insurance issues...
Yes. The syncro is the current daily but when the bay (also LHD) gets the mot later next month the syncro will go into storage & I will use the bay until the weather gets bad around mid November. But isn't this another T4 thread....
You seem like me when I've got my mind on something..... Dog with a bone You probably know more about them than most t4 owners and you haven't even got one yet! I could manage with lhd as a daily but surely there's enough of them out there to get one with the steering on the correct side, even if only for McDonalds and car parks which the (in denial) lefty drivers generally say are the main pitfalls. Also I'm sure you well know that fitting out the interior with a decent bed, upholstery, appliances, hook up, leisure battery's and wiring etc costs as much as some vans! Especially if you want to do it properly.
It's no different to having a hire car abroad, takes me a couple hours to get used to it. Not getting into the passenger seat and thinking someone has nicked the steering wheel......holidays are never long enough to sort that one.
ha. yeah i'm well aware of certain things so far already i've found one that for some reason i like and i see potential in - sometimes you go with your gut, it's 140 miles away but i fancy a looksee.....
I like changing gear with my right hand in the few miles I've done in the pickup, think you'll get used to it very quickly. Are you right or left handed though?
Been using mine as a daily for the last 4 years or so (when I have a working gearbox) before tbr suggests it. It's a piece of *******, you don't even notice. I drive to work in my lhd manual bay, then drive around all day in rhd auto beemers then back in the bay.
doubt it is much of an issue on insurance, minor premium but nothing major i would have thought. get one of these litter grabber things for ticket machines and the like.
probably yes but just thought i'd ask on here 1st, gotta decide if i'm gonna drive to meet this chap half way tomorrow that's all.
