Anyone tried magnet fishing?

  1. im a bit excited!
I'm awaiting the arrival of a 90kg pull neodymium magnet with the aim of tying some rope to the loop and throwing it into various bodies of oggin!
Hopefully, as well as the expected rusty tat, there may some treasure! YouTube shows some great finds......

I used to love it as a child.

I think using a 90 kg magnet is unfair and not at all sporting.

  15. Ha! It's here! It's tiny, but proper strong! I opened it and thought it looks a bit Mickey Mouse, but when it's clamped on, it's very hard to shift! I've got to get some sort of thin nylon rope now! I got it from eBay.... It was £16 including post

Definitely don't put it on the side of your electricity meter.

  18. When I was a kid I was into it for a bit.
I had a massive magnet and dangled it in the canal!
  19. I had one of those!
  20. in the good old days we had proper iron magnets that weren't too strong, but they only picked up iron objects.

that 'small' one you bought looks about right compared with some of the mega size ones on YouTube. Looking at the YouTube clips, you are going to need a decent strong rope on it. And a separate hook on a pole to drag out the trolleys and bikes.

magnet fishing looks ok but I like fishing for fish best. I'm a bit too old now to be seen chucking a magnet in a river.
