Had a meal with the family today for my dad's birthday and we were talking about food from our childhood. My mum was often poorly as we grew up and dad worked shifts so a lot of the cooking fell to me. We all remember a prepackaged fritter/savoury pancake mix that tasted fantastic (it was the 70s so it might be awful now). Problem is no one can remember what it was called. Mum helpfully thought it might be in a yellow packet, my sister seems to remember a green one. I don't remember the box but the powder was a strong yellow colour and was mixed with water to create a thick dropping batter. It wads easy to make and everyone loved them. Any ideas?
No think I'd remember the packaging of that. From what everyone's carp memory can dredge up, it was a quite plan box with pictures of fritters on the front
@Barneyrubble come on, you're well old, you should remember *runs away sniggering* or ask the lovely Betty. Early to mid 70s. Smallish box, about the size of a cornflour box now. Yellow (or possibly green) packaging.
Can't remember this. Did you have to make the filling? We lived near GF who made angel delight, instant whip etc so ate lots of that
Could you not just have 'bubble n squeak' like we had to.....none of these fancy pancake mixes in our house.
When we went camping as a kid, we used to take big 2lb tins of brisket. Blooming lovely with brown sauce on a sandwich. But I can't get it anywhere now.
