Anyone know about old stereos/turntables??

  1. Great arty looking piece of kit. As Stan says, it is usually the auto return mechanism where the grease has gone hard or dried out. Quite often this part of the mechanism can be got to by just taking the turntable platter ( The black bit ! ) off, which will usually be held on by a circlip around the centre spindle, rather than having to take the bottom of the cabinet off to get at it. Try that first and if all else fails, remember, the best turntables in the world dont even have this feature and have to be lifted off, so do not worry about it !

I have hundreds of 7" and 12" vinyl from mostly the 70's and 80's, and sadly I have to admit I now only ever DJ with CD's and, turn away those with a week stomach, Lossless MP3 files, there I've said it I'm out !
