Anyone going to VanWest?

  1. Just wondering if any TLB members are going to VanWest this year?

  2. unfortunately not, just too far for us x

  3. I have never been. I am guessing its a huge show with masses of vans and lots of drunk people pulling Radio Flyers with screaming kids? :)

  4. yes, were are taking the van out for her 2nd trip :)

  5. No idea but am going just for Saturday to find out. Maybe Starryboy can fill us in? Whatever I'm taking 3 friends and we are in the 'mature' age group so if what's on offer doesn't suit us we'll make our own fun. Saying that we're up for some music and a laugh so we might blend in.
Screaming kids don't bother me - I'm usually more hacked off with the way some parents handle them.

  6. Vanwest is going to be our first ever camping experience, so we are very excited!!! Not sure what to expect but am sure a few drinks will help.......

  7. Essential I would have thought......

  8. TBH i have no idea what to expect. Ive never been. I love brean and all my family live in patchway so i can tie a visit to mum in and still have a tour round brean at the same time.

We will have plenty of food, music and cider so cant go far wrong lol

  9. I'm hoping it's going to be good. If so I'll camp there next year. I agree with Starry Boy, Brean and all that area of Somerset is lovely.

  10. Might pop along for a day, currently the van is not for camping... And it is only a short drive j23 to j22 :)

  11. Probably - been for the last four :0) !

  12. Well c'mon Jestermans spill the beans......... What's VanWest like? It is young, clubby and ratty, or more mixed with families or something else that I haven't yet thought of?

  13. Well it's usually windy so come prepared - it' s on the Warren Farm site which has various ' fields' that get designated family, pitch up, clubs, quiet etc so if you are camping you can prebook to what suits your taste. We go for the family field and as we're softies pay a little bit extra for a hook - up. The toilets ,showers etc have always been spotless whatever the weather and there is a small shop and chippy on site, a pub with a large entertainment hall and another pub just 5 mins away.

The show has been consistently good and well run IMHO big enough but friendly and enough for everyone to find something to do. Stalls are varied and non vw nutters can be kept amused.

The beach is just across the road so bring a kite - and it's one of the few beaches you can legally drive on for small charge - the picture of wilma in my siggy was taken there last year as we watched the beach cruise pass us by - and that took two hours!

    Give it a twirl!

  20. Sounds good, might consider that one next year then. :)
