Ive been there when my Grandparents lived in Bournemouth, from memory it was really nice. @outlaw isn't far away
I stayed at a youth hostel there in 1990 while on an A-Level Geology field trip. The toilet had a floor to ceiling window and you had to hang a towel on it so passers-by couldn't see you on the loo. That is all I have to say about Bridport. Hope it helps with your query.
I'm not too far from it over in Poole. We've visited a few times and it seems lovely. Just on the off chance that you're interested I'm trying to find a barn or similar in Dorset to work on the van over the winter if you are after any space to work on yours.
I'm in Merriott, by Crewkerne, just up the road from Bridport. How about we meet up at Hive beach at Burton Bradstock sometime? Tony
I thunder through bridport late at night, usually once a week. Does that help? It seems to have a Morrison's a builders merchants and a fire station
Used to be a 1970s style cafe next to the bus station ... was still there about 5 years ago. My mates and I used to stop there. Probably gone now replaced with Costa or Starbucks, be interested to hear. Palmers brewery is also there I think.
Hi. I'm from Yetminster which is about 20 mins from Bridport. West Bay is nice place to get chips on a summers evening. Thats where they film Broadchurch. Where are you moving from? Paul
I went there once -- it had a street market, a waitrose and I saw sj Bowles' kemperink driving off in the distance. Then we went to seatown where there is a campsite and a pub and a beach and lovely walks along the coast. I think that is probably all you need to know.
Thank you, SOME really good info and help there! My misses thinks the '70's cafe is still there. I'm moving from windsor, my van is a wreck and have to get it on the road before I move!!! I have a mission ahead of me! I'm up for meeting up with aircooled locals
Nice campsite at hive beach the cheep one not the big one stayed there a few times nice walk to west bay for chips
I lived in or near Bridport (near the High street, then Bothenhampton) as a young'un and moved over to near Crewkerne (West Chinnock) when I was 10 - felt like miles away at the time! I now live truly miles away, but have wonderful memories of the area and go back when I can for holidays. Hive Beach café is a lovely place to eat (I adore their fish dishes, especially the lemon sole) and although I spent half my time on the beaches at Burton Bradstock and West Bay out of season as a kid, in summer I recommend heading East a bit to West Bexington for a tourist-free beach experience - no posh restaurants like at Burton Bradstock or West Bay, just basic stuff, but it's bliss getting away from grockels without deserting the sea entirely.
