Another plumbers help please thread

    Hi all, hayelp.
    I have no hot water. It seems I have heating.

    (no I don’t know why it turns them sideways when resizing)

    On water and heat setting it says 45 degrees and is calling for heat.
    Turn to water only

    Goes up to 64 - no flame though.
    Faulty water sensor?

    I reset it loads this morning and turned it off and finally I had a hot shower. No such luck tonight.


    Any ideas please peeps?

    just turned it off at the switch for ten mins.
    it tried to heat the water, it briefly became tepid and then cold again.

    think it will be the same - a combi boiler works on heating or hot water not them both at the same time Mine struggled similar with hot water running hot cold hot cold the way i was told when the heating is on the boiler heats up the heating when theres a demand for hot water there's a change over valve switching the heating from central heating to hot water - that'll more than likely be the problem

    Could be a number of things. Impossible to diagnose without seeing it really.

    my first thoughts are
    1. Because it’s not lighting, on dhw but it’s ok on CH is it actually detecting a taps been turned on? So could be dhw flow switch

    2. Is it detecting dhw flow but the divertor valve isn’t moving due to valve or power head failure. But that being the case I’d expect to see a greater temp rise.

    3. what’s the ohms range on the dhw thermistor

    Etc etc

    what’s the GC number of the boiler? On a main combi it’s likely to be on a sticker somewhere and will start 47-

    Does it make any difference if you turn the DHW stat to max.
    Then rapidly turn a tap on and off to pulse the flow of water through the boiler.
    If there’s a lump of carp in the flow switch this can dislodge it.

    I did turn it to max (thought I might fool the temp gauge) and then turn the kitchen tap on.
    it didn’t work.

    Yesterday after one of the resets it did try to start and it seemed confused as to whether to be heating CH or water. The flame led was lit but the water and CH kept switching back and forth.

    Ok. As a complete guess without seeing it my money would be on the dhw flow switch.

    My plumber cancelled last night. Grrrr. getting showered at the gym, except this morning which was bleedin freezin!
