As I live opposite the house where my Great Grandparents lived, and one of them was born as far away as the next village along, I figure I might be a bit English.
Be interested to see if there's anything more exotic further back, mind....

My Grandparents and Great grandparents are buried in Wentworth church yard.
Seems at some point they moved from Bradford via Huddersfield to Wentworth….presumably for work down t’pit when the mills started to close.

I’m half Dutch and have our family tree back to the 16hundreds a lot done thanks to Hitler looking for Jewish blood.

Then there’s a gap to a saint with a very similar name in the 900s

    I bet that’s interesting

  6. Some might come from as far away as...ooh, Ringwood. Or is that too exotic ;)?

On my mum's side I can trace back to Apley Castle and the Charltons, who are connected to the Spencer family.

  8. By "connected", do you mean "below stairs" ;)?

  11. I'm very tempted to have a go with one of these DNA ancestry things, but I also know they are not as accurate as they'd like you to think. Also a bit worried I'd not like what I'd find. My fathers side of the family is all a big mystery, to the extent that apparently I went to primary school with a first cousin, but don't know who they were. I did find out at a recent family funeral that it was a boy, I'd always thought it was a girl. Half the village called my father one (first) name, the other half a different one, very odd, but that was rural Kent in the 1930s.

Mine shows I’m 1/4 Yorkshire. Well, it would if I shelled out for one!! :)

  14. Think you've just confirmed you must have some Yorkshire blood...

Never done the DNA thing, my Mum traced the family back to the 1650's and only Scots as far as she found.
I'm sure there is some Norse blood in the background though.
