Am I getting old .. will it get worse?

When I were a lad, old people just got on with it! After all, they'd been through one if not two world wars. The youth of today don't have any idea what hardship and inconvenience are so they just complain about the most trivial things.

If the dump stinks, close yer windows at night and if there's potholes in the street, drive carefully.

They gotta burn all the methane off, but the world will end if we do, or maybe not, whichever gets the most guardian readers

 

Can’t they burn it and make use of the heat to drive a turbine or something - must be able to?

What I can’t get my head round is the landfill is almost full, there’s 3000 house being built a stones throw from me and not that far from the landfill - why the hell don’t they put a small energy from waste plant up , burn our waste, produce electricity and hot water as a by product and give the new homes district heating and maybe subsidised electricity or is that too sensible?

There’s a big EFW incinerator 15 miles away and they waste their hot water as there’s nowhere for it to go

 

You are doing the right thing - this country is dying from apathy where people huff and puff on social media but to absolutely FA about it. Our parents generation would get off their ar$e$ and lobby the council until something was done. Stinking landfill sites and disintegrating roads are definitely up there.

Agreed but maybe the coucillors listened to their voters back then and acted accordingly by `doing the right thing` .

These days it`ll go to a comittee which will work out the cost and put in a recommendation that the work is outside their budget ....

I think it’s unfortunate that as we get older we lose our sight and our hearing, but I believe our sense of smell is unaffected.
