I’m on a bit of a mission at the moment about an increasingly unacceptable odour coming from a local land full site and I’m currently sat at the entrance ( baulking and retching) waiting for the local press photographer to take a few shots ready for my rant in next weeks paper . On the way to the location I noticed the state of the road leading to the site ( local B road) and have started a complaint about that ... Am I turning into a miserable , moaning , busy body and I’m going to get worse as I get old ? Should I be ignoring everything wrong in local area and waiting for someone else to get off their backside ( how I used to be) to raise concerns?? Or am I doing the right thing and complaining when it’s needed ?
Not read the full post....but yes and yes. Nowt about getting old includes the phrase " that's better now "
You won’t stop the smell, not for a long time yes you’re old and grumpy let us young folk enjoy our young lives x
Have you set up one of them speed awareness campaigns in your village / town yet? Do you spend your spare time glaring at motorists whilst wearing a hi viz tabard?
The voice of experience I think there MIGHT be a bit of a turn around coming along ... All the thirty-somethings that I know are very quick and efficient at complaining about the quality of the service, online-bought product, or food that they're paying for, but can't say for sure whether they also take the local council to task etc etc ... Maybe they'll only start once they have all the personal junk they want and need something else to complain about? It looks like we start young and angry about the big stuff and then gradually what "matters" shrinks ever closer to home.
Going on the readiness to moan exuded by the clientele on here you’re probably on the slippery slope to old agedness and intolerance. Book the pantomime for the family and embrace your silliness like what I did last night. I bought ten tickets for the family, cost a fortune to park, roads were a nightmare, never got so much as a thank you......
Yes you're old! And it probably will only get worse But fair play for doing something about that which makes you grumpy. Better to be pro-active than be a bystander, I say.
At what age is it acceptable to have your reading glasses on a bit of string round your neck? Asking for a friend obviously...
Try getting a drink at the bar when there is a young fit bird each side of you! only to find when you finally get asked what would you like by the barman and you ask for 'sex on the beach ' please, followed by comments of dirty old git from the barman. That's when getting old really hits you but at least some dreams are still alive.
there’s always been a smell which I accept but it’s largely capped off and we’re 3 mile away so shouldn’t be getting the strength of smell we experience - obviously something very wrong. I worked a 100 yards away from a different tip and that stunk from time to time until it was capped off and the smell disappeared immediately .
