i understand the whole water not getting down to the aquifers(or whatever they're called), and the plants taking up a lot of it, but it's just not damn good enough! there are leaks everywhere and our rivers are swollen. we have a hosepipe ban in norfolk yet are still selling water to essex! while anglian water are saving millions on water treatment as we are using so much less are they investing millions in building new reservoirs, fixing leaks or providing adequate extra resources for these 120 new houses they are building in my small town, i think not. did you also know that if you are a blue badge holder you can use a hose! tbh i get sick of my customers talking about it(i sell plants on markets and am a landscape gardener). not only do you not need to water your garden, you shouldn't! plants become reliant on it. how long does it take to fill up a watering can and water a few pots if you have them? wash your car with a bucket and less often.
I'm going to borrow the blue badge at work when I want to wash the Ragtop at home Cheers for that head up Doggy.
just as a laugh ,this is apparently true too!! went to my mates at wk end he has new puppy and a nosey neighbour. : Apparently if you have a puppy?dog? you are allowed to hose down if they have poo,d in your yard, they found this out from someone who knew and said phone up the water company and tell them ,you can get it in writing, when your neighbour dobs you in your covered .
Try and spend a week solo outdoors without modern convinences and you will appreciate water for the live giving source it really is We europens waste far too much of it As an island race Water water everywhere but not a drop to drink The main fault is we have paved and built too much of the island and it all runs off instead of soaking in Decreasing the popultation of the earth is the simplest solution to most modern problems Not a subject any politicion would like to appraoch
It's not about water at all, it's about energy and infrastructure. We have more than enough rainfall for our needs we just don't invest in the infrastructure needed to capture and manage the supply. To manage the supply we need to use energy. These two factors eat into water companies profits so guess what... Water isnt a finite substance we use up like oil, it just moves around is all... Cheers s
We (Huntingdonshire - Anglian Water) have a hose pipe ban, our neighbours (Cambs Water) don't? Our county capitals are only 20 miles apart and if anything we are downhill so go figure? No doubt we will solve the issue by shipping our water in from the European Union.
