Air filter box

  1. Standard filter on the 1600tp, there is a gold cylinder thing on the left as you look at it, think its a flap thing?

Should it bob up and down, because mine was, now it solid and wont move at all.

You can see it just at the end of the black hose

    Thanks

  2. I'd forget your air filter, sd...where does your rubber fuel line go (the the left hand side)? Tell me it doesn't go down the slot where the sealing foam is ...

  3. No dude, it goes through a clip and back round, you can see it

  4. That cylinder is a small weight and will bob up and down subject to vacuum pressure, if its stuck it might just need some drops of oil on the pins to lubricate it, unless it has a fancy vacuum pipe somewhere then its vacuum operated (but pretty sure that is the paper element type not that one)

  5. Hmmm it used to bob up an down. Noticed today its not. Think I will pull it out tomorrow and have a look, it was stuck stiff

  6. Well they get very dry - heat and air dries them up or it might have got wacked with something who knows, either way its a counter weight and a flap inside the intake , its the warm air regulator , the cold air pipe (which is missing from yours should be connected to the bottom inlet pipe on the air filter and then onto the small tin pipe in front of the O/S air pipe (on the right of the picture as we look at it) Think I got the hot and cold the right way round but the pipes are deffo that way round ( late still at work, tired!)

  7. I do need to buy some pipe as well as the heater pipes for inside the cab.

Thanks for your help dude, I'll report back and let you know.

The flap you have that is stuck moves by airflow
. The hot air flap is before it in the intake.
Looks like the weight miight just be resting on something

  9. Managed to sort this today, it was just a bit stuck, all sorted now.

I have been assured there should be oil in my filter box, oil bath????
I did really know that, I have put it back with no oil in it as I cleaned it :/

    Is that bad???

This is when I first took it off

  10. It is bad, as it's the oil that catches the muck ;)...

PS I still don't believe you've got a steel fuel pipe

  11. Not steel no, its brand new fuse hose fitted by the restorer, thats fine surley

  12. Where does the fuel hose that's looped over the air pipe on the lhs in the pic go to? The one with the cable tie on?

  13. Loops round into a fuel filter from the tank I assume, you can just see that in the pic,

    What are you suggesting buddy?

Same as this, but mine is pulled more to the left

  14. What's it connected to on the other side of the filter?

  15. New rubber hose to the fuel tank Im guessing, I have never ever seen behind the panel on any bus so I dont know, I paid a pro to do it so my trust is in him.

Go on, tell me............ hahahaa :)

  16. It looks like its tucked under the foam seal. Where it could rub on the edge of the tin wear and thus cause a fire. It should pass through the bulkhead in a metal pipe with a rubber grommet. It might just be the picture! :)

  17. Riiight, with you. That was hard.

I shall check it tomorrow guys, thank you ;)

  18. The fuel pipe where it passes through the tinware should be steel pipe and the tinware should be fitted with a rubber grommet to stop it chaffing

You can see the black rubber grommet in this pic

  19. That's what I thought... Honestly not trying to nag, mr dodger, but if the rubber hose is just stuffed through the sealing foam (where it'll chafe), you could be in for an exciting engine fire. Enough vans go up in flames. Just sayin'...

  20. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Also the bit stuffed in the gap looks like cotton overbraded stuff.
