Afghanistan… what was the point of all that then?

All those losses .. and to what end. Pretty damned futile and now the Taliban, no doubt bolstered by Islamic state rejects have more or less taken the place in days!
I admit I believed the rhetoric and the pronciple of bringing about a better society there but , it seems it’s actually not really our place is it? More fool me!

 

We only get involved if there's advantage, political or £ for UK inc. Same for foreign aid innit.

I feel sorry for the armed forces but then again if you're mug enough to join...

 

Just recovering from the pandemic in time for a new caliphate to be established in Afghanistan and Al-Qaeda to start a new wave of terrorism.

Then in we go again in about 5 years time.

The Taliban have held 'peace' talks with China......

So expect Chinese companies to appear in Afghanistan building new roads and railways to serve their newly purchased mineral mines.

Or possibly to provide new armoured mopeds for them to ride around on, with RPG's over their shoulders.

 

And may be the Taliban ?

 

Yep that's exactly it Afghanistan has way more cash sitting underground than the poppy's that grow above it. It's not oil it's copper and metal ore .
The yanks have walked away and are talking about supporting the new government with aid......
The Afghan people are about to get well and truly sent down the river over this. Any western thinking Afghans would do well to run and run fast.
Pakistan want one half (think of an overflow car park for people if it ever kicked off with India) China want the other for world domination plans.
How China have got the Taliban on side is baffling they have been imprisoning native Muslims in re education camps in the north of China and the Taliban think they are good bedfellows?
I bet the Indian government is soooo happy with being left high and dry by the west, expect the Kashmir and Nepal boarder dispute to hot up.
I feel for the population of Afghanistan you could be 20 years old and only know war and it's about to get worse.
Then you have all the service personnel who lost their life or limbs and in many cases their mental health for the grand some of nowt.
China have cut up Africa with and now starting on the middle East.

Are the Taliban merely driving out the imperialist invaders, just as the Mujahideen did to Russia previously?
We've got empirical history there as well, of course.

 

My guess is the Taliban couldn’t give a monkeys what China are doing. The taliban/isis/Al-Qaeda haven’t exactly shown themselves to be shining examples of Islam. My guess is the majority of those that follow that religion probably think they are very bad Muslims.

 

No it's a tribal council set up more along the lines of the nazi party.
You could say the English messed it up when they split the empire (India) up or religious extremists and the dark age thinking they love.
The US government have a bit to answer for in the last 20 years no doubt so do the Saudi and Russia governments

Only losers are the average Afghanistan familys if had young kids and a Taliban government winding back the clock on human rights I would running and fast.

 

I honestly think it's more of a cult the Taliban but even so it must of been some sales pitch by China they do both have awful human rights records in common.
Islam is a very peaceful and caring religion the Taliban not so

 

It’s been going on forever even the Russians gave up on the place. We should never of got involved.

History is littered with groups trying to rule the world in their image of what it should be China, The Romans, we had a go with the Crusades then again with the empire, the Nazis and now America and China.
