Aerial

  1. I'm thinking of welding up the holes on my front panel where the aerial goes & fitting one on the bulge, has anyone got a close up picture or even better a template of where it should go?

  2. I wouldn't try it, mate. You'll need the pukka Hella antenna, and the (odd-shaped) hole is a difficult one to get right. Get it wrong and you'll hit the subpanel behind it.

  3. If I remember, I'll measure and photo mine for you tomorrow

If I was doing it, I would pilot drill it, then put and extra long bit in the arbor of a hole saw... That way you can cut an elliptical hole 8)

  4. Get your welder out, just in case... ;)

  5. can get you a pukka on glass one chris ;)

  6. looking at doing this myself. Daunting as my fronts all new metal and ive been a bit accident prone recently!!!!

  7. DONT DO IT!!
I have just had my antenna hole welded up, after it constantly corroded.
You will likely spend the rest of your ownership sanding off the rust and repainting.
As I have said before, the antenna is the problem, its made of an ali/zinc (muckite) alloy which reacts with the steel of the body. It has to be a bare metal to metal contact for the antenna to be grounded properly, so however careful you are about the prep. there will be bare metal contact somewhere :(

  8. I wouldn't drill extra holes if you can help it. I have one just behind the front window that works fine. Ebay jobby.

  9. These dimensions worked well for me - shamelessly stolen from kamperchat ages ago, so apologies if its someone on heres work....

"Using the red, brown, dark and light blue line measurements will give you the centre of the hole on ours.

Red line between w/screen seal to bottom of pastel white is 9cm
On that same line from the w/screen seal to centre of hole 4.5cm

Brown line on right, 13cm from end of seam on A post to centre of hole

Dark blue line on right, 8cm from bottom pastel white to centre of hole

Light blue line on left, 36.5cm from wiper arm spindle to centre of
    hole"

    cheers
