Sorry mate was'nt implying your a wimp, glad you got it sorted without violence, and yes spitting is assualt, quick dna check on your flob and your nicked son but thats another story.

 

Big respect to you for sorting this with your patience rather than your fists. I'm glad the other friends have come around to your way of thinking and have questioned the actions of this bully. Good on you for not wanting further to do with him on a night out, but you should tell your other mates the reason you won't go out when he is around is due to this guy. Perhaps they will start to see what a fool this guy is.

One friend of a group I used to go out with kinda sprayed everyone while he was talking ,I found this out because one afternoon I was sober and he was drunk...I could not believe how much water left this persons gob.. :- I took drastic action and drunk a few pints in quick time ,the problem went away... > also one friend [older] used to grab you behind the neck went he had a few ,I started grabbing him ,that soon stopped...

You have definitely got the best outcome and it hasn't caused any hard feelings between your group of friends. Maybe when you see him next suggest that his spitting beer is quite disgusting and that he should stop before he gets in to real trouble.

 

His spitting beer thing is a simple "there are ladies about, put the boys out of the frame by covering them with smelly beer". Tit probably never even thought it through. Tip a pint over his head next time you see him (once you have the money). Then say "Just drunken antics". In the olden days you could have then followed through with a full ashtray. No harm done - just a bit of fun?

 

Funny, I started of thinking this was really out of order etc etc..
As the thread progressed I realise it's just a typical night (day, whatever) out on the drink with unfortunate consequences.
We all quickly fell into line joining either the 'smash his face in' or 'walk away' camps but in [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow] we had very little information and only one side of a story..

I hate being around drunks, it's only fun when your drunk and then you can't remember the fun so what's the point?
I think if you want to go out drinking then it's 'caveat emptor'. Sorry you got hurt and had to pay out. Doesn't sound like the guy intended to hurt you with a bottle, you were unlucky. You wouldn't have succeeded in any legal route to get any costs if you relied on the evidence of anyone that had had a drink. So you've had a good result.
