Hi All! After having various Beetles I've decided to get a late Bay, I'm looking at a 73 Panel Van that's had one owner and has 63000 on the clock, owner wants £5500 for it, and not sure if this is a reasonable price? Also what should I look out for when I view it? Your help would be most appreciated!
Hello & Welcome from The Colonial Contingent Have a read through this http://thelatebay.com/index.php?thr...-guide-before-buying-a-type-2-van-camper.458/ You can always ask someone with more knowledge to come along & look it over for you.
I bought my first bus this year and before I did I went on a 'buyers guide' at T2D near me. Found it invaluable and realised I knew nothing about what I should be looking out for. Potentially saved me thousands of pounds and I'm sure a whole load of problems. Would highly recommend something like it if you are new to buses. Either that or take someone who is experienced. Better to have patience than make a costly mistake.
Also be aware if the van seems to cheap (I dont know the going rate for panel vans to comment on the link) but there are alot of scammers out there that steal other peoples photos (or vans) and use them as a front. Do a search for scams on here and have a look at what I mean. Same goes for if the seller is located in a different area to where they say the van is.
I'm down in Cornwall, hopefully looking at the panel van later, I'm excited and nervous and hope it turns out to be a good un!

Well I viewed the van this morning and had a good look around it, the outriggers have been done although they need tidying up, small hole in engine bay left hand side panel, nothing major as I was armed with a torch and screwdriver and spent 20 mins on my back checking the underside out, I think im going to go for it! comes with a genuine roof rack and some other goodies!
