I've had one of those fans sitting around for years (bought for another project but never used) - now I have a use! Thanks!
We're not worthy! We're not worthy! Tbh I 've not been in any hurry to get the van back on the road since me circulation went kaput a couple of years ago, it' just too parky to drive at times. Thank you sooooo much!!! Just got a hundred odd hours of welding to do.
Great post, good to see this working, I'd been looking at using a metal high temperature fan, but couldn't get one small enough. Any hot plastic smells from the fan?
Been meaning to do this for years. Fan ordered. mine is going on a Type 1 engine so we shall see how it fairs.
It wont get hot enough to cause the plastic to begin to break down with it being at the front of the bus.
Has Jim cut the bottom out of the market for original ambulance fans in one, fell swoop? 'Original ambulance fans £4.99, postage included.'
Ambulance fans are in the cold air stream from tge airbox to the cold vents. They have nothing to do with the heating system.
What were they originally fitted for and Why the term ambulance fans. Were they only fitted to the factory specced ambulances?
If only the heating did actually get very hot. Aftermarket heat exchangers seem to have reduced the heating quite considerably. Mine gets more than warm but hot, not.
Possibly silly question as I know bugger all about electrics.......when the extra fan gets it up to the desired temperature, can't you just turn the fan off ?
