Finally finished adding an extra fan into the OE heat/ventilation system, to assist (or replace) the snail fan. Pretty pleased with the result. Note, I spent time ensuring the original system was as per factory spec, so the system is in decent order. I only really got semi-decent air flow when revving the engine. When at a standstill or in normal driving, the air flow from the snail fan or the engine is quite low. With the extra blower installed, it's great! A good powerful air flow, proper demisting, and a nice warm camper. This is the model I ordered. Cost £30 from Amazon....or was it ebay? Dunno. And you know the best thing about a powerful fan in a campervan? It's the desire to actually turn it DOWN a bit, cos your too hot .... so I order a variable voltage pulse signal regulator. The motor only works on 12v, so if you try to send less than 12v, it turns off. So you need a pulse regulator; this sends bursts of 12v, which basically turns it off an on at lightening speed, making it run slower and faster. Bench test, with the voltage pulse signal regulator, So, off with the front belly pan ; close to the cockpit so this sucker fan wastes minimal air pressure into the cabin. A simple + and - wire from the voltage pulse regulator Find a + from the fuse box, wire that into the switch, and put install into dash....looks like it belongs there. The On Off switch is just my original override switch for the snail fan. The tested result: Demisting joy! It's sucking that heat through the pipes nicely now, and into the cabin. Just in time for summer. Jim
Good idea but doesn’t pulling the air over the heat exchangers quicker give it less time to be heated up by them ?
Had one fitted to mine for many years. Its almost laughable that you wouldnt have one and think your heating is effective that way. Increased volume isnt an issue , you just get more heat inside rather than it being radiated away. If your exchanger cases are hot when your heater is on your losing heat!
Brilliant. This is exactly what I was looking for. I've found the fan on ebay but do you have a link to the variable voltage pulse signal regulator you used please? I couldn't find one that looked like the one in your video.
Nice to get the fan out of the engine bay...do you close of the pipework that went from the snail fan and just leave the openings on the exhaust side upper inlet where it used to be fan pushed through . Is it less smelly too ?
Might have to have a dabble before next winter , I just had a quick search on eBay and you can get 3” 12v dc in-line fans for £16
It’s this one I think https://www.amazon.co.uk/SODIAL-Con...0V 20A 420W PWM Controller DC 12V 24V 36V 48V
Great information! Was planning on doing something for next year but as it "seems so easy" lol. may do sooner than later. Thanks Sent from my SM-J320FN using Tapatalk

I've left the snail fan in place, all still working as per factory, apart from I wired a switch into the dash to turn it on, rather than using the heater lever. But the engine bay is technically closed off cos the snail fan has (should have) flaps that only open when it's turned on It's not smelly, although I fixed the smellness beforehand. I may have been lucky, but my huge amount of fumes was just 40 year old oily dirt I think, cos I sorted it by just cleaning the externals of the engine/heat exchangers/engine bay with gunk, degreaser sprays a tooth brush and water. Nice one! Ordered the regulator will order blower now happy demisting days! Sent from my SM-J320FN using Tapatalk
Thanks Westy. £1.73. Better buy one quick before they hear about scene tax and they move the decimal point!
