A bit on the back.

  1. Shoo,...drunken ebaying frightens me worse than a good zombie film.
    I love your purchase though.

Mad as a box of frogs, that's what you are. :)

  3. For the tdi engine. It's now pushing a t3 around

  4. Reminds me of me when I am also winkey eyed *******ed up trolling through Ebay :rolleyes:

  5. Respect for taking it on:thumbsup:, but I am another that cannot see the vision unless it is behind another Polo...

  6. TBH I'd have loved a Beetle one but they're just getting too rare now.
Cutting up a Bay would have resulted in a lynch mob these days!

  7. I like that - does that make me strange? Look underneath though, if you have the patience then you can remove the exhaust heat shield, remove the spare wheel well and the bit of the floor that humps over where the tank is normally, and I'm sure you would be able to put in a flat piece that flattens out the floor and gives you a bit more space inside?

If I were going to make a novelty trailer, I'd get the framework from a normal trailer and clad it in bay panels to save cutting a bay up to make a trailer.

@lowie is/was selling a GRP half beetle trailer...

  9. I had a split and the front lip above the windscreen was rusted ,I decided to weld a 2p fringe [I have pictures] ,ten years later I realize I was out of my mind...:gnome:

I also made a half a camper trailer but complete campers were £200 in them days...

Show us the 2p fringe pics.:D We already knew you were out of your mind, so don't worry about that. You haven't got better have you?

  11. I'm under 60, so what is a 2p fringe?

I'm hoping that's a accurate descrpition, not code for something else.

  13. I've even googled it!
    Still no idea.

It's LEF, you can be almost sure he welded (somehow) actual 2p's to a splitty, resourceful chap that he is. Scaffold poles, wooden stakes and now 2p's. It fits a pattern. :)

  15. Nearly finished now.
Put the jockey wheel and safety chain on, connected up all the original wiring to trailer hook up, refitted the interior panels and changed the wheels.
Also fitted a towbar so that I can fit my Monkey bike carrying bracket.
    Made the hatch lock work.
Starting to look ok now and certainly makes more sense. Total outlay under £200 including the donation to British Legion. :)

Just a bit of fitting out on the interior and some finishing off to do. Happy Days. :)

  17. I'm loving this, makes absolutely no sense but for £200 and some spannering I like what you've done.

  18. Incidentally, what did you search for as I haven't been able to find half a car on eBay. Not that I'm trying to make this a competition to see who can find the "best" half a car to do this with.

  19. I was looking to see what my Knott/Avonride Car Transporter was worth as I was skint.
Just typed in car trailer and this was newly listed as " open to offers, money to go to British Legion", I'd been drinking and the rest is history.
