3rd and 4th

Hi Guys,

I bought a 78 bus with no engine.....fitted my beetle engine and she runs great.....BUT, i cant select 3rd or 4th gear???

1st and 2nd seem fine.

The bus had a big cc engine that was running fine before i got it so the gearbox 'should' be fine.

Any ideas? Clutch adjustment????

as it goes into 1st and 2nd.....does this sound like gearbox issues,clutch or cable adjustment??

 

Does it go into 3rd and 4th when the engine isn't running??

does it make graunching noises when you try to put it in 3rd/4th??

yeah, graunching when trying to get into 3rd....and really difficult to find 3rd or 4th. Ive not managed to get it in 3rd or 4th.

I will try and have a look underneath when its not running and get a mate to shift gears tomorrow.

Rev / 1st and 2nd work fine....i cant think its the clutch???

 

Isnt it always the simple things !!!!!!

Lifted the mats / cab carpet and the gearstick bolts were loose.....tighten them and guess what !!!

All gears work fine
