Hi All....well gerties engine is currently out and being rebuilt by farnborough vw......and things are developing at pace. When I bought the old girl I checked the engine code and it said GE ....so was a 2.0 litre 1978 fuel injected lump....anyway was then looking to get the cooling flaps and saw another engine code on the block.....AW....which is 1975 fuel, injected size.......1800. So at the time thought robbing bast.... of a PO.... however now its out and in the garage it turns out the crank and pistons Are a 2.0 litre after all !! Just as well it didn't order the oversize 1800 pistons from the states last week......that would have been an expensive balls up! Anyway point of the post was to ask those in the know whether it is worth uprating to 2056 or are there lots of other bits that would need to be changed and most importantly would the fuel injection system cope with the small increase...... First post on the new site....takes a bit of getting used to but I like it!! Cheers for now
if you're sticking with the fuel injection you'll need to keep it 2l... as the FI system won't really cope with the capacity increase!!
