2.1 Water Cooler in a bay

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Dicky, Jul 10, 2012.

  1. Anyone got one fitted in a bay on here. Seen a couple over the years and seems a reasonable upgrade. Just thinking a nice bog standard 2.1 or even with a pair of dells on there with one of them fancy-dan under chassis rad arrangements an extra 20 or so ponys. Or is it a lotta hassle for the benefit! Mountings look similar to 2 litre?

  3. not greedy but would be useful to have a bit more. Dont like the idea of a "tuned" engine, I want something with longevity and not too ott! Just a thought.

just had a look and they seem to be 110 standard, thats a nice amount of horses, probably a pretty straightforward conversion too

  5. I like the sound of that! bit of a pipe dream at the mo but interesting all the same. Might look into whats available to do this.

Anyone has any details or references would be obliged. Recall one that showed at vanfest a few years which was tidy, red and white paint if i recall!

Ask Laurie Pettit about them? He buys them just for the crank and chucks the rest... I've no idea why.

wasser boxer crank conversion, i think he puts them into type 4 aircooled or type 1 cant remember

  8. There are the oxyboxer`s this is where you use a watercooled case ,angle gind the waterjackets off , plug and redrill the studs and fit type 1 barels and heads , much , much stronger bottom end and still air cooled .

i`m not too sure about but i think is what Laurie builds is the 1.9 crank in a type 1 case ( wasserboxer ??)
