  6. Looks greate,, job well done

  7. Little bit of an update on the paint job, its going slower than i expected, but for the good price they gave me, i can wait as long as they need, wihtin reason.

So its been just unbder 2 weeks now, the body has the bottom half ready for finishing, and the top is primed ready to go tomorrow. The dormi top is in the booth now getting the full white treatment. All of the doors are off at the moment, and sitting in primer, they should get a coat sometime aftger the wknd.

I love the look of white primer, the colour is almost 'appliance white'. I hope it retains the brilliance when the real white goes on. Well happy with the green, it is fresher than i thought it would be, and i was worried it would look kak.
Anyway enjoy the pics, i cant wait for it to get out! Got so much to do before July's Trip.

    All the best

  10. that is looking really nice mate, you must be well pleased :)

2 weeks doesnt sound too bad to me .....you cant rush these things :)

  11. Looking really good and hats off for a good resto. Where are you having it painted? You're about a mile away from me so interested to know who's painting your bus for when the time comes to do mine.

  12. Its getting done at MC motors on ellingham opposite ripleys. I went in while they were quiet and haggled the arse out of them and they settled at a nice price.

I dont mind the wait, but theres so much to do lol. Time only ever gets shorter.

Cracking job fella, all your hard work has clearly paid off, well done. Looking forward to seeing the rebuild next...should be a stunning bus when finished, and with the wheel on the right side...K+2u!

  14. Are you getting the inside resprayed as well?

  15. No the inside would have boosted the price way upwards. Most of the inside that is tatty will be hidden from the interior install so hopefully I will only have the nice bits on show.

  16. Ok as of today at 11AM after i have brought the bus back to my soggy driveway without any doors as they arent finished til the end of the week, i have officially got ten weeks to polish the orangepeel, re-assemble, design & fit interior, re-upholster the world, MOT - weld torsion bar cups/collars, and fix stupid fuel gauge. July is our month booked off for hols and we are going to drive the west coast of france. I will upload pics as soon as i have towed the trailer back with the bus on, and you can all see the wonderful paint job.

  20. So the bus is on the drive, beggin to get pictures of itself, but its a raining all the time, so im gonna leave it beggin.

I took the seat apart. Bear in mind i never used a proper sewing machine in my life, let alone an industry standard level machine that goes a mullion miles an hour. I done some learning in my sleep i tell ya.

So here goes, the story begins.

Turn my back for five seconds, and the dorks attack. Dorks.

The spikes from hell. When you undo these, take care not to slip and cut yourself.

    So old, oh so old.

So my inlaws have given me this space for a week. So thats my deadline for now to get as much as i can done on the front single and 2/3 seat. Bench is two trestles and 3/4 sheet of mdf, sewing machine is a Yamata, black leatherette, no scrim foam but polyester webbing instead, not through choice but availability of materials to hand. Patterns cut to a roll of lining paper from the ripped old seat pieces.

Me making piping and trying not to sew my fingernail to my finger.

Piping done. I wanted to do white piping with black seat, but no such luck as we only got a roll of black due to budget.

    Piping sewn to back piece.

Its not quite pleating, but i wanted to put something in to break up the plain material.

    And the semi final product

Anyway, this is the product of about 4/5 hours work spread over 3 days where i got some spare time, and alot of thinking in between.

Anyone who reads this, if you use your brain, you can actually do anything. Maybe i will get on the plans for xray specs after all.......
