FOR SALE 1800cc Type 4 Engine complete

Discussion in 'Late Bay Parts Classifieds' started by 21Window, Oct 30, 2013.

  1. Got this 1800 Type 4 engine for sale. It is from a USA import. A complete engine including heads, manifold & single carb, alternator, coil etc everything in pics but also heads & carb which aren't in pictures. Ran to a fashion when in the van but has a broken piston so mechanic dropped engine and installed a good healthy spare I had.

Selling for rebuild or parts as a job lot. Collection in E Kent or can put on a pallet for you if too far away. £500

Oscar, what heads do you need - there's a slim chance I might be able to help but can't guarantee it.

  4. I'm after 1800 ones.
I may be getting these ones if they're in good nick, and the right price. Just waiting for pictures off @21Window .
If not I'm deffo interested in what you may have.

Ok there is a garage near me with an industrial engine - heads on that any good?

They may have a standard T4 engine as well but I have no idea what any of the engine sizes are.

    I think the industrial (24v) is a 1800 but can't be certain.

  6. Sounds interesting. But I haven't got a clue about industrial engines. Maybe @PaulWeeding would know.

I think it's fine to use, I believe it's just electrics that's an issue and you need to change for 12v dizzy bits on carbs and such likes.

Think the rest is ok and you only want the heads ;)

  8. Ill see what happens with 21window. But if his are no good I'll have a gander at your ones if the price is right. Cheers razzy.

Those industrial engines have barely been run, it would be a shame to break it just for the heads.

@Midlife has one of those industrial engines in his van, dipstick in a different place but other than that good stuff i think they are 1800s.

  11. I'll leave that to razzy and his conscience. :D
I only want heads, I pretty much have the rest.

Same here if I think about it.
But just the bare engine and TBH the heads are repairable. But I think it's a 1700.

  13. The industrial engines have twin pdsit 40s on them. They'd be worth having too :)

  14. That's good to know. I'm after carbs as well. :)

  15. They are nice carbs no idling circuit like the 32-34s, which is a good thing, they normally have 30 vents too so rev well with the bigger heads.

  16. The industrial type 4 engines cam in either 12v or 24v

Essentially a stock 1800, but with a few bits that were for industrial use only...

    From what I can remember:

Oil cooler - While the cooler is a std unit, some came with two banjo hose holes for running (oiling) whatever they were attached too!!
Engine mounts - often solid mounted to a tubular cross bar
Exhaust muffler - Just a round can, with a high exit tailpipe... not dissimilar to what you'd find on a trekker or a schwimmwagen
Distributor and coil - heavy duty anti cut ht cables, and nut fittings on the dizzy cap holding the ht leads in

    24v bits
    coil
    alternator + reg
    choke elements

I think that covers it :)

Hi, would be very interested in the Industrial engine if no-one else in this thread is interested ? Would hate to queue jumper and we all know how much the English love to be in them and the French ignore them .
    PM please if any news.
    Thanks

  18. Hi Oscar, sent the part number last night - think they might be 1700 heads as the last letter was a 'q' so might not be of use to you. Bought the van as a 1800 and will double check the code and if 1700 will amend my ad. I have a couple of single twin barrel carbs - one an og solex.

  19. Message received and replied. Cheers mate.

  20. This is a great carb.

It may still be an 1800 engine just with heads opened up from 1700 to 1800. Highly likely if its ever been rebuilt
    :)
